Imagine sitting at a slot machine in Las Vegas, ready to give it one last try. Just as you’re about to give up, here comes the cocktail waitress in her sparkly outfit with a free drink. I bet you’ll stay a little longer now, and the casino is betting on that too. The time old tradition to keep gamblers gambling is still going strong.
The big question here is.. what should you order? Not all drinks are created equal, but the best free drinks in Vegas aren’t hard to find if you know where to look.
are drinks still free in vegas CASINOS in 2021?
Let’s ignore the fact that nothing is ever really free, you have to be gambling to get these drinks. But if we’re gambling anyway, why not get the best drinks we can find? Right? Ok, moving on.
Rumors have been flying up and down the Strip that casinos are phasing out free drinks in the future. Luckily that hasn’t happened yet, but there are some noticeable changes. Some casinos have already implemented a red light/green light system on slot machines that let waitresses know when you’ve spent enough to deserve another drink. Putting $.025 into the slots every 5 minutes won’t cut it anymore. Just another reason to make each cocktail count.
HOW TO GET FREE DRINKS IN VEGAS
Even with the new rules casinos are trying, the basic idea remains the same. Gamblers can expect a free cocktail. If it’s your first time in Las Vegas or a favorite vacation spot, that’s half the fun!
Blackjack, slot machines, video poker, whatever it is, ….. no matter what you get, or how long it takes, tip the waitress every time she brings you a drink.
where to get the best free drinks in vegas
The quality of that free cocktail varies by casino, and some are better than others. The nicer the casino, the nicer the drinks tend to be. Some casinos have become known for having a special drink that stands out amongst the rest. Here is a roundup of these tried and true favorites.
Casino Floor
- Mojitos (Wynn)
- Raspberry Lemon Drop (Cosmopolitan)
- Frozen Mudslide (Bellagio)
- Miami Vice: Half Pina Colada/Half Daiquiri (Mirage)
- Chocolate Martini or Espresso Chocolate Martini (Wynn)
- Lemon Drop (Caesars Palace)
- Merlot (Paris)
- Strawberry or Raspberry Julius (Wynn)
video poker
Depending on the casino, the drinks or drink tickets given out to video poker players are much better than drinks on the floor. The best place to find them is the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan.
There isn’t an exact formula that tells us how much we need to play and how quickly to be considered eligible, but with a standard (bet the maximum and keep a steady pace) level of play you should be able to get a drink ticket every 20ish minutes.
Tickets are valid for any drink up to $16.00. This used to include the specialty cocktails, but unfortunately most of those have increased in price to $17.00. No, you can’t just pay the $1.00 difference either, you need to use 2 tickets. This is still a significantly better cocktail than what’s served on the casino floor, and at video poker tables at other casinos. The cosmopolitan is still $16.00.
For an extra special “secret but not secret anymore secret drink” order the Lemon Verbena. Although not on the menu it’s the most popular cocktail ever served at the Cosmopolitan.
